Calculation for OEE
Calculation for OEE
In broad terms, OEE is calculated by multiplying three percentages: machine uptime (Availability), machine productivity (Effectiveness or Performance) and finally the good units (Quality). These three percentages together give the OEE percentage. We calculate availability and performance percentages based on time, i.e. the quality by numbers.
Availability KPI
This is the ratio of actual production time (APT) to planned run time without stops, or planned busy time (PBT).
Performance KPI
This is the ratio of actual effective run time (AERT) to actual production time (APT).
Quality KPI
We calculate this using the number of good products (Good Quantity = GQ) in relation to the total number of products produced (Produced Quantity = PQ).
To be complete...
When calculating OEE of the Quality KPI, we assume that a product either does or does not meet the predefined specifications. There are of course still other options available to sell products of a lower production quality than was originally planned. It is up to the producer whether or not to include them in the OEE.
