Tip 5
Create engagement

Digitalising the workplace can create resistance among staff. Introducing an analysis tool like OEE can give them the perception of feeling less in control because the system records every detail. It can also increase their fear of losing their jobs because all the data that they used to enter manually is now processed automatically. There can also be some frustration among the team, as employees feel that their old way of working was apparently not good enough. To remove these resistances, it is important to reactivate employee engagement.
There are several ways to build employee engagement. One is to involve people upfront in the process and value their input, or give them responsibilities when rolling out of the project and let them contribute ideas on the value of the KPIs that determine OEE. When employees feel heard, they are more willing to adopt new ways of working.
